Campo : Shrub to 4 m.Lvs.soft,somewhat shining.Fruits spiny brown pods,enclosing many small seeds,more or less pyramid or cone shaped,wich have a red colored coating wich rubs off.It is used to make a water solution in wich food can be put to impar a reddish color to it.Possible use as a clothes dye.Common name Achiote.The seeds sell for 15 pesos lb.in markets herm we were told.Rainfall 500 1000 mm.year mainly june to november.
